all hail the queen

In truth, I was skeptical about trying out these new offerings in the Queen Transcendent line. The first time I met the original Elizabeth, I thought she was gorgeous, but uncomfortable. When I finally realized that I had to go up a full size (from my usual size 9), I was still doubtful about actually adding anything from this family to my collection. I tend to like a lot of wiggle room in the toe box. The narrow toes are an adjustment for me.

This season, there are some major additions to the Queen Transcendent line. Since its arrival with the signature heel, this has been incredibly popular. Though I do not own a member of this family (yet), I decided to give this season’s offerings a shot.

Escarpin

I tried on the Escarpin in size 9.5 and these seem to be a perfect fit. (That means you should size up 1/2 a size.) I was surprised that they were really comfy. Compared to the original Elizabeths, the new Queen Transcendents seem to run slightly wider, making the toe box roomier and thus, making my feet happy:) The glittery finish is gorgeous! Coupled with the heel, this is definitely a head turner.

Victoria

I also tried Victoria on in size 9.5 and they were perfect. Again, I had to size up 1/2 a size. I love the green on this boot. Yes, since it’s a boot, that means the fit on this is very secure and for me, is the most comfy Vog in the line. I’m not sure if this goes with anything in my wardrobe. However, if you’re someone who likes a little bit of vintage with a dash of goth, this totally fits the bill!

purpleLiz

Finally, I decided to try on the Elizabeth in this season’s new color. Purple is my favorite and I’m a total sucker! One thing you should know about these is that the heel is purple. It’s the only one in the family without a black heel. I tried these on in size 10 (a full size up). While I think these are gorgeous and more comfy that I had originally thought, I’m going to have to just look at them in adoration. They’re so pretty, but I’m not sure what I’d wear with them.

I know many of our readers are fans of the Queen. For those of you who are, I’m sure you’re going to fall in love with the new additions:)

purple bliss

As mentioned before, I’m totally excited about fall. After visiting our friends at Haight Street, I have a lot of great info to share in the upcoming weeks. Today, I’d like to start with members of the Prepare family.

This season boasts a gorgeous purple color found in the two Vogs below. The Map and the Leader also feature gorgeous blue accents that we saw previously on the Rosy. Though subtle, these details really make a difference!

Map

Though the Map previously came in black and a brown/mustard combo, this is the first time I’ve tried them on. These are a size 9 and they seem to run true to size. However, since I like lots of wiggle room, I would likely get a 9.5 in these. (Please double check with your local dealers to verify size.) Like everything else in the Prepare line, these are very comfy and give some great height without painful feet. I love the double laces and think switching it up with different laces (perhaps satin or any other thick lace or ribbon) would be equally gorgeous.

Leader

Technically, adding these to my collection does not violate my no doubles policy. The Leader is not the Guide (even though they look alike). For those of you who have the Guide, you know this is an all-day, comfy Vog that you can wear everyday. Naturally, the Leader is no different. I’m told that the Leader runs true to size. I’m wearing a 9 in the photo. For me, they’re snug. However… my feet are weird and require different sizing for both the Guide and the Leader. Here’s why….

I have wide feet and like wiggle room in the toes. The Leader and Guide curve a bit narrow on the top. In my blue Guides (size 9.5), my outer toes hit up against the toe box. Not a big deal, but if I could do it again, I’d opt for size 10 in the Guide. In the burgundy Leader, the 9.5 was a much better fit for me, but I had the same outer toe issue. After trying the 10, the toes were perfect, but the footbed was slightly long. Between the two, I’d likely opt for 10. Again, contact your local dealer for sizing, as my feet are weird.

On both of these Vogs, the blue heel is a great detail and the purple is a unique neutral.

changing policy?

_MG_1983

As I’ve said time and again, I have a strict no doubles policy. It helps me maintain a very streamlined Vog collection. Besides, like many of you, I’m on a really tight budget and setting rules about building my collection helps me maintain a loving relationship with my bank account.

Don’t get me wrong. It’s not like I haven’t been tempted to have doubles in my collection. However, I believe in adhering to some strict rules to avoid buyer’s remorse. Of course, there is an exception to every rule and I think I may have met my match.

Say hello to the Fellowship | Sandra in this season’s newest color combination.

I nearly cried when I saw her on the Fluevog site. She’s so gorgeous. In person, she’s even better. I love the rich red and pink on this color combo. Of course, the Fellowship | Sandra is a super comfy flat. My black pair are a daily go-to.

Some other details about the Fellowship | Sandra…. They are sized small, so I have to go up to size 9.5 in these (as opposed to size 9). Because of my extremely flat feet, there is some puckering that happens on the side. However, with a pair of Superfeet insoles, that’s an easy issue to fix. These are a classic, must-have for anyone’s collection. In fact, Madam Shirley just added these to her collection.

Now the question remains…. Do I have the strength to adhere to my no-doubles policy? Or will this iteration of Sandra break me?! Silly Vog problems…. Sigh.
