pointy toes and snake print

Snake print reminds me of this song and video:

Don’t ask me why, but it just does.

A while back, FlueDaddy Denny was on vacation and FlueDaddy Jim came back to SF to fill in. Miss Shirley and I visited and of course, tried on some Vogs. (Note: This post is totally late, but better late than never, huh?)

What I love about working with Jim is that he always manages to bring you Vogs that you wouldn’t consider trying. During this trip, he brought out some snake print that didn’t exactly strike my fancy. Let’s face it. I’m not big on animal print. At all. However, I’m trying to keep an open mind. As usual, I was completely surprised.

Before I continue, I just want to say sorry for the terrible photos. My iphone wasn’t agreeing with me that day. Previously, I’ve mentioned that I’m not big on pointy toes. In fact, I don’t have much in the area of pointy toes in my collection. (The closest things I have to pointy toes are: the Munsters anniversary reissue, Escarpin, and  Meera.) With such big flat feet, pointy toes and I don’t really get along. However, I’m really liking the Wonder | K2, especially in the snake print/red/black combo. There’s something about this that is so striking. Also, that the pointy toes didn’t pinch were a total plus! I tried on a size 10, but I think a 9.5 would suffice (half a size up from my usual size 9).

The other Vog I liked that day was the Big Presence | Desmond in snake print. If you haven’t tried on the Desmond, you should! My sister owns these in black and she loves them! At first, they look like a plain old pump. However, if you take a close look at the heel, it’s essentially a modified Munster heel. The details are what make the Desmond so exquisite. For a pump, they feel like a flat. Again, the pointy toe is quite comfortable. I tried these in a 9.5 and they fit the bill, considering my need for a slightly wider toe.

Though I’m not much of an animal print person, I will say that the white/grey texture of the snake print is pretty nice on these two Vogs. I’m not quite so adventurous, but I can see how these would work on others. Also, I’m not big on pointy toes, but these are nice enough to make me re-think that. If I had to choose between the two, I’d probably opt for the Wonder | K2. Those are amazing! They reminded me of how I felt when I tried on the Faraday. The right pointy toe makes me feel powerful. I like that!
