current obsessions

I’ve been trolling ebay lately because for a while now, I’ve been dying for a pair of vintage Fluevogs with the heart heels. Oh Mr. Fluevog, why won’t you re-issue these? I know in 2010 the Vanny came out, but I didn’t really like the fit. I love the boots that came out with these heels. I found this post where the writer sadly shared that her shoes didn’t fit anymore and she was trying to sell them. Sigh. Look at these beauties. Me likey! Recently, I tried to bid on a pair of these on ebay. Unfortunately, my internet failed me and I missed the bidding window. (Lesson learned: Don’t try to be slick by placing a bid in the last 10 seconds of the window. You gotta give yourself at least 20 seconds!) The lucky winner scored a pair of these for only $68. Yay for the winning bidder. More sighs for me.

These are the Jolenes in lime green. Gorgeous! The image can be found here: http://twwly.com/2010/03/12/blessed-boys-and-sweet-shoes/.

There are several boots and shoes that come in the heart heel that are available on sites like ebay and the FlueMarket. I always troll with envy, as I’m looking for a great heart heeled shoe at the right size and the right price. (Btw. I usually wear a 9 in Fluevogs, but it can change depending on the style. To be safe, I think I’d have to get a size 9.5 in the heart heels.) Ahem. If you or anyone you know is looking to sell their heart-heeled shoes, feel free to contact me:)

Another obsession I’ve had are teal laces! This summer, when I was in San Antonio, one of the conference attendees wore brown CBCs with teal laces. I couldn’t stop looking at this shoes for the entire bus ride! While I’m sure the CBCs aren’t exactly my style, I’ve had the Radios on my wish list for some time now. These babies with teal laces… wouldn’t they be gorgeous?!

Okay. I need to stop obsessing. I just needed to let it out. So… what are YOUR current obsessions?! Please share in the comments section:)

  1. that lime green boot is beautiful!! as for me, i’m mildly obsessing over the new embossed suede paris … now in my size! it’s very dangerous for me to troll ebay for fluevogs, but i’m usually saved by the fact that most of the shoes i want aren’t in my size. i’ve become very strict about making sure the shoes will actually fit me. i’ve made the mistake several times of buying too large or too small when i buy online, which is why i’ll be selling my off-fitting shoes one by one. i need to make room for the new vogs that DO fit! 🙂 however, a confession: i bought the cream/white amie ballet flats in size 6 on sale even though they’re a little large. BUT this particular color has not been made in smaller sizes (the blacks are available in size 5), and i really wanted them. they’re very striking and actually quite comfortable, and i don’t see them as just a spring or summer shoe. they fit well when i wear thick socks/tights, which is what i plan to do this fall and winter.

    • Girl, you gotta update your album! Mama needs to see the collection! Gah! I think the FlueGods are punishing me for my faulty internet. I’m still dreaming of these green boots! I’m in LOVE with the heel! I WANT!

I agree about online shopping. The sizing is hit or miss. That’s why you need to talk to the dealers about sizing. There’s nothing worse than buying Fluevogs that don’t fit. While I’m fantasizing about the heart heels, I need to talk to the dealers about sizing. From what I can gather, the Jolene s are sized a bit small, so I’ll have to go up at least 1/2 a size. There are other ones on ebay in my size such as the Margie and the Aileen. The heel is flatter, but I’m not sure about sizing. I need to stop. Really. The last thing I need is another pair of shoes. (Tapping and scratching arm.)

      • lol! i think i’m not currently feeling an itch for more vogs right now because my elizabeths are still on layaway. i’ll be getting them VERY soon, though, sometime this month! also, deciding to keep the amie after trying it on already made me feel pretty guilty, but i did need some shoes to wear with my halloween dress, haha. seriously, though, i’m looking forward to wearing the amie flats quite a bit this winter.

anyway, some members of the hi choice family are definitely sized at least 1/2 size small … otherwise, my size 6 vanny wouldn’t fit as well as it does. i think it’s a beautiful heel and if you can find a style that you love and that fits, i say go for it! you won’t regret it. (i kind of regret not getting the black-and-white vanny as well, but i really do love my green-and-purple — it’s the cover photo on desert chic, after all. :-))

  2. I may have to try on the Elizabeth again. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a match made in heaven for me. The ones I tried on were way tight and when my feet cry, I’m just not having it.

Make no mistake. I KNOW that my recent trolling binge has to do with being lonely here in Phoenix. Virtual retail therapy (mostly looking and not buying) is my coping mechanism.

During one of my earlier trips to the Fluevog store, I tried on the Vanny. I thought it was super pretty, but way too tight. I dunno why I’m obsessed with the heart heel. It just makes me happy:) Yes, I see the Vanny on your desert chic blog. They’re so pretty! But you know me and my policy: no two of the same shoe.
